You Can Always Go Home

I am officially home for Christmas break and it feels GOOD. There is really no place like home. I am a daddy’s girl through and through. And growing up my sister and I would make mistakes and be afraid of getting in trouble. But my dad would always say to us “you can always come home! NO MATTER WHAT! I can’t help you if you don’t come home!” So after I wrecked my car and after I got in trouble at my high school football game…I came home. After the worst breakups I have ever had…I would go home. When I didn’t know where else to go, I would just go home.

And every single time, My dad was usually right at the door to welcome me in after my latest stumble. He would ask me what I wanted to snack on because #priorities. He would often bring me into his office with his military career displayed on the walls and the newest Macbook on the desk. I would sit in a chair across from him and ramble through my latest battle. He would listen intently. I would cry and he would expect it. He would provide words of counsel, words of encouragement and a tangible love that would send me upstairs to sleep it off or to the kitchen to spend time with my mom. But every time I needed to go home, the back door was already unlocked.

That is how Jesus is for us but better. He NEVER closes the door on us. He welcomes us back home every. single. time. When we wreck the car or when we get our hearts destroyed by a boy we had no business loving – we can come home. When we run from Him and choose not to sit with Him, or be with Him or put Him first…we can always  come home. When we forsake Him, forget Him, neglect Him, we can still come home. When we struggle with sin or have yet to fully surrender, He is still there welcoming us home.

There is no condemnation here.

There is no fear here. There is only PERFECT UNFAILING LOVE. You can go home, friend. He is waiting for you. He is longing for you. HE DESIRES YOU. He is anxious to give you counsel, comfort and wisdom. He does not turn His face from His children. Go to Him. Draw near to Him and He will draw near to you every. single. time.

He loves you more in a moment than you can even fathom. Don’t let anything keep you from falling at His feet. ANYTHING.

with love,

Lindsay
