“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
Transformation: a thorough or dramatic change in for or appearance.Once you’ve been transformed, you no longer look the same. You become unrecognizable.
I was hanging out in the same places, with the same people, doing the same things. I hadn’t been transformed. I was learning, I was experiencing conviction but I was still the same. I was lukewarm. One foot in, one foot out.So, what brings transformation? How do we actually transform ourselves?
Well, one thing I learned the hard way, was that I actually can’t transform my self. Only the One who made me can remake me.
The One is JESUS.
If you look in the Gospel at people like Bartameus (Mark 10) or the bleeding woman (Matthew 9). You see how desperate they were for JESUS. He healed Bartameus and the woman who bled internally for 12 year. He radically changed Paul from slandering the Son of God, to being one of the most loved and respected teachers of the Gospel. Their encounter with Him is what caused their transformation.
The beautiful thing about Jesus is He never withholds from us. The Word says, “when we draw near to Him, He draws near to us”. In Psalm 107:9, we learn, “He satisfies the longing soul and the hungry soul He fills with good things”. Our desire to be made new by Him will never go unnoticed.
Be hungry for Jesus. Be desperate for His waiting heart like Bartameus and the bleeding woman. When you get a hold of Him, transformation follows.
The experience of becoming the unrecognizable, the changed, the new all begins with Jesus.
