Back to School Must Haves

It is hard to believe I will be starting my 3rd year of law school in a little over week. It is both exciting and terrifying at the same time. Over the last two years, I have found the secrets to surviving grad school so I am sharing my Back to School Must haves with you:

  •  Day Designer Planner
This planner is the only way I can get even close to balancing blogging, law school, friends, church and whatever else happens. Each day is broken down hour by hour with a spot for your “Top Three”. This helps me separate out my must do’s for the day so I don’t get bogged down with  the many other not so important things on the list. At the top of each day there is a quote and at the bottom spot for daily gratitude. I am the type of person where if I don’t write it down, it won’t get done. The to do list section is my saving grace. It won’t let me forget what I have yet to do! It’s stylish, efficient and when I actually use it- Life changing.

  •  She Laughs Project Scripture Cards
These cards were gifted to me by my friends over at the She Laughs Project and I wouldn’t dare go into this school year with out them. Law school (or any job/grad program) can be super intimidating and these gorgeous cards fit right into my wallet and serve as timely reminders of who God says I am. They are an easy way to keep the word of God close to me throughout the day.

  • Val Marie Paper Prayer Journals
The days are about to get long over here and I will be the first to admit that I will be so tempted to hit snooze instead of hitting the prayer closet. It always seems like the first thing we cut out of our schedules when we get busy is prayer. Val Marie Paper’s 6 month prayer journals keep me grounded. Each month I can lay out exactly what I want to pray for reflect back over it as often as I want. These journals have helped me focus and pray strategically and specifically. They also help me track God’s movement. And about halfway through the semester, when I am worn out and tired, I will be desperate for a reminder of God’s faithfulness. These are a must for me!

  • SNACKS
You should’ve seen this one coming. On any given day (aka every day) I can end up being at school from 830-630. So I try to pack my lunch when I can, but snacks are LIFE. You won’t understand how great snacks are until you’re in a two hour lecture about the constitution with no end in sight. So my go to’s are: Lara Bars, Cliff Bars, RX bars and the occasional Power Bar! I chose these because overall they are made with real ingredients, little to no sugar and often times are gluten free. Oh and they FILL ME UP. Which is important because theres nothing more uncomfortable than having your stomach compete with the professor in who can talk the loudest.

That’s my list! What’s on yours?? Best of luck to everyone starting school this fall! You can do it!

with love,

Linds

oh p.s. i made a spaghetti sauce that was to die forrrr. Because nothing says back to school like spaghetti and meatballs! Am I right?!
